Artist Talk with Beth Lipman
Wednesday, September 27 | 7:00 p.m.
Lipman will be speaking about her newly commissioned piece at the Weisman, One Portrait of One Man, inspired by WAM’s collection of Marsden Hartley’s art, and how she uses glass compositions to capture a moment in time.
Lipman’s work explores aspects of material culture through still lives, site-specific installations.
You can also see her at work in the galleries installing One Portrait of One Man during museum hours from September 26 – 29.
From Courtney Gerber, Minnesota Museum of American Art:
I would like to pass along an event coming up in October that may be of interest to museum staffer and volunteers. Deana Haggag, CEO and President of United States Artists, will be in conversation with Venessa Fuentes (Poet/Jerome Foundation) and Tricia Heuring (Public Functionary/MRAC/St. Mary’s) on October 18th at 7 p.m. They’ll be speaking about vulnerability, power, and equity related to arts funding, specifically the support of individual artists. Ananya Dance Theater will kick-off the evening with a brief performance. This gathering is being co-presented with the Ordway and will take place there. It’s part of the M’s programming for the exhibition We the People. Please have a look: http://mmaa.org/deanahaggag/

Below is the direct link to the Collections search page on artsmia.org:
If you scroll to the bottom of the Collections search page, you will find the interactive gallery maps. If you click on a gallery, the results should show what is on view in that gallery. (Note: If you use Internet Explorer as your browser, this interactive feature of the gallery maps does not work. You will need to search by gallery; for example, type in G250, then hit search and the results should be the objects within gallery 250.)
